Biography

Jamie Bowering is a New Zealand photographer based in Auckland. 

Born with a camera in his hands, he had his first commercial job at the age of three. Despite this unbelievable start, Jamie continued being a child in a little coastal village north of Nelson where he went to school. He rode the first ever New Zealand MTB National Championships and finishing a strong 3rd in the Novice category and paid for his own tracksuit and travel when representing New Zealand as a road cyclist.

Instead of becoming a professional cyclist Jamie set his sights on a career as a professional photographer. After studying at Christchurch Polytechnic he left the country to assist some of the top photographers around the world. For a number of years he enjoyed jet-setting the globe, riding the wave of the fashion world, enduring the sunrises in far flung locations with travel photographers, rubbing shoulders with celebrities and eating the most expensive dish from the menu. Jamie has been electrocuted (mildly) on a job only once.

Jamie is far more competent at creating world class imagery for his clients than writing truthfully and earnestly about himself in the third person. His work exceeds expectations with a focus on detail and a unique observation of people and places that is key to his storytelling.

Jamie is grounded and thankful for his wife Yulia and their kids, Sofya and Misha.
